San Francisco Urban Beekeeping Group

We're a social group of people that are interested in getting together once a month to chat about honeybees, share books and ideas about honey, community, and wax!

This is a brand new group to get people excited about urban beekeeping and to increase the honeybee population in San Francisco and the entire Bay Area. Right now honeybees are threatened by disease and "colony collapse disorder", we need to learn more about bees and how to help them, and make sure they are here to pollinate the flowers and fruits of future generations. We're interested in wannabe beekeepers, experienced beekeepers, and just anyone interested in meeting others that are interested in bees. During the summer, let's plan on meeting at apiaries around town, and looking into other people's hives. During the autumn, we can learn about honey extraction and bottling. We'll also be talking about starting your own hive in the spring, and how to plant for pollinators. So come, learn! enjoy!
