The Superfair Is Back at Fort Mason with Frameline Films and a Harp-Playing Mermaid

We interrupt our regularly scheduled programming to bring you a sponsor!

You've been keeping The Bold Italic alive, and so has this week's sponsor, the Superfair San Francisco. It's a four-day art fair at Fort Mason Pier 2 (March 19–22) where you buy directly from the artists, no galleries in between. I can tell you from going to really fancy Fort Mason art fairs where I actually have asked, "Can I speak to the artist" and come up with nothing. I don't know about you, but if art's hanging at home, I made it or someone I personally met did.

I'm putting together a new series where Bold Italic readers come with me to events around the city. We're planning one with SF Symphony in June. In the meantime: want to come with me to the Superfair this weekend? I'm going to the premiere of Don Quixote at SF Ballet on Thursday, but what about Friday? I have some actual free tickets for paid Bold Italic subscribers (send me an email).

Superfair has also extended the code BOLD40 at checkout to save 40% on all ticket types. (Tickets are here. And, you guys, I launched a new events page for The Bold Italic! More details on Superfair are here on the page I made for them.)

Still coming this week: I just published a story on the Brides of March, and I've got reviews of the ODC gala, the Community Music Center gala, Bouquets to Art, and Community Fashion Week in the pipeline. I have been attending an unreasonable number of events, so the writing is catching up to the living. But I'm here and still exploring the very best of San Francisco, and writing about it for you.
