6 Events To Get Your Ass Outside For This Weekend — The Bold Italic — San Francisco

The Bold Italic

San Francisco weather is very bipolar. One day it’s cool and foggy and the next it’s sunny as balls! This weekend the skies swing to the balls end of the spectrum … um, I mean it’ll be sunny. Seventy degrees, to be exact. You stayed inside all last weekend like a Frank Underwood-obsessed cave person, and sure it felt good, but you owe it to yourself to soak up some vitamin D. Here are some events that’ll help you get that D this weekend … well, you know what I mean.

No more frozen yoga

Think about everyone freezing their bums off on the East Coast and go do some yoga outside. Every Saturday you can do morning yoga in Golden Gate Park at 11 a.m. It’s BYOM (bring your own mat) and a lot of fun. And then you can go drink your troubles away at brunch and still feel like you did your body good.

Pop, lock, and drop it

Doesn’t sunshine make you want to dance — or maybe just watch other people who are really good at dancing? You can do both at the Bboy Connection Sunday Streetfest. This event takes place at Willie Mays Plaza on Sunday. The Streetfest includes some of the Bay Area’s best break dancers and musicians as well as talented graffiti artists. There will also be an open dance floor if you feel inspired to shake what your mama gave you.

Get your (vegan) grub on

Full disclosure, I’m not sure what a “vegan mimosa” consists of, but it sounds delicious. That’s just one of the tasty things they’ll be slanging at the SOMA StrEat Food Park this Sunday as they celebrate Vegan Sundays. There will be vegan food trucks with everything from sushi to burritos and it’s free if you RSVP on Facebook. Even non veggie-heads can enjoy this spread.

Cars N Coffee

Like fancy and classic cars? Want to see lots of them? Treasure Island is hosting a coffee and cars meet up. From 8–11 a.m. car lovers are bringing their prize whips to display. Check out these automotive beauties while getting jacked up on caffeine.

Go down to Chinatown

Chinatown is celebrating Lunar New Year this weekend with tons of great outdoor events. Pregame on Saturday with the street fair which will include traditional Chinese entertainment and music. There will also be workshops on calligraphy and kite making and (duh) great food. Saturday is also the annual Chinese New Year parade which will feature adorable marching elementary school kids, acrobats, and an epic 200 foot long Chinese golden dragon.

Fight Fight Fight!

This weekend you could be a mighty jugger warrior who beats their foes to a pulp! Jugger fighting is a play fighting style with foam weapons based on an Australian movie. A group in Berkeley is trying to bring this sport to the States so they’ll be meeting on Saturday to duke it out. And don’t worry, no need to bring your own weapons, they provide them.
