Slide the City, which throws water party events around the country, recently announced that a 1,000 foot Slip’N Slide will hit San Francisco in July — bringing with it live music, food, drinks, and water fights. There’s no word yet the exact location yet but hopefully this roving party brings a slide back to Potrero Hill.
Tickets aren’t available yet (although you can sign up for alerts for their events by city), but prices don’t look so bad. There are three tiers to entry, including early-bird specials that range from $15 to $50. The VIP ticket allows you to slide as many times as you want. And if you think the San Francisco one will be too crowded for you, Slide the City will also be coming to Oakland and San Jose in June.
But will the event happen? You may recall a petition in LA garnered over 10,000 signatures protesting the ridiculousness of a Slip’N Slide party during a drought and the subsequent cancellation of the event after city officials didn’t give Slide the City a permit. There’s always a chance that could happen here.
But those of us who dream of putting San Francisco’s hills to good use in a manner that reminds us of our childhoods hope that the Slip’N Slide does come here, as promised. Just let us keep living our Neverland dreams and we’ll slide in foggy SF-in-July weather if we have to.
Update: And just as we guessed, there’s already a petition trying to prevent the Slip’N Slide from taking place in any part of California due to the drought.
