Aerial Views of the Bay Area On a Quilt!

Prepare to be blown away. The images below are of quilts! These amazing works of art were made by artist Linda Gass, who depicts the stunning aerial views of the wetlands of the Bay Area through fabric art. You might recognize these strangely colored pools of water — the salt ponds — that were once commercial salt production areas and are now protected ecosystems. Gass uses handpainted silk crepe de chine to craft her beautiful quilts.

Gass makes these quilts to “express hope for restoring the salt ponds to wetlands.”

Visit Linda Gass’ website to see more of her work. And if you’re interested in learning more about the restoration effort, read more on the South Bay Restoration Project website.
