Are We Living in the End Times?

Weren’t evil bulldogs one of the harbingers of the apocalypse?

It’s 2016, and there are “evil clown sightings” happening in random cities across the Eastern Seaboard. The CO2 levels in the atmosphere just surpassed 400 parts per million for good—what climate scientists call “the point of no return.” And a foreboding-sounding “Black Moon” graces our planet today. (Also, doesn’t “Black Moon” sound like a good name for a metal band?)

All of this got us thinking, are we living in the end times? May we present a formal debate on the issue of whether the apocalypse is nigh.

Point: These terrible public sculptures in San Francisco could actually be portents of the apocalypse.

Counterpoint: How could the apocalypse be coming, given how fabulously awesome this year’s Folsom Street Fair was? (Warning: this hyperlink is very NSFW)

Point: The local Trump campaign held their debate-watching party at a Round Table Pizza (we sent a writer there undercover). Wasn’t this international pizza franchise one of the four horsemen of the apocalypse, or am I misremembering my Sunday School classes?

Counterpoint: There are still places in wine country where you can drink wine for free. Proof that God loves us and wants us to be happy.

Point: For all its bluster, the tech industry can’t seem to improve its dismal workplace-diversity stats. Satan’s doing?

Counterpoint: Let’s see, a counterpoint to systemic racism in tech … um … yeah, this one truly sucks. But here are some great San Francisco parklets?

OK, so I guess the jury is still out on whether the apocalypse has truly arrived. In the meantime, try not to think too much about the bad things, and look at a lot of cute dog pics.
