Weirdest Shit Out of Silicon Valley is a weekly series from The Bold Italic documenting the bizarre news, gadgets, and developments in the tech world.

It’s hard for superspreaders these days. You open up Walt Disney World to the screaming sticky masses, and suddenly everyone’s a hater. Sure, you ask them all to wear a mask, but how do you actually enforce that?

Those classic snapshots of screaming log riders captured these anti-maskers in all their glory on Disney’s PhotoPass system. At first, Disney sky lords decided to just delete those images, reports Mashable, but then decided that the $20 or more that people pay for those crummy shots were more important than taking a stand. Enter their use of a Photoshop-esque tool that automatically slaps a mask on mugs without one — for example, that not-amused looking lady in the photo above.

After the backlash, Disney later changed its policy: “We tested modifying some ride photos. We are no longer doing this and continue to expect guests to wear face coverings except when actively eating or drinking while stationary.”
