Dreamfest 2024 brings big music and big money to Oracle Park

It’s not every week that you go from tech panels to live concerts, but Dreamforce has always been a bit extra. Dreamfest 2024 continues that tradition with P!NK and Imagine Dragons stepping in after Elton John had to bow out. Set for September 18th at Oracle Park, this event aims to raise over $120 million for UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospitals, making it more than just another concert night in San Francisco.

I’ve never seen Elton live so that part’s sad, but I did catch P!NK last year at Chase, so I’ll add that the aerials were everything and more. Our seats were already pretty close to the front, but her dizzying suspended-cables act puts you right up next to her; I’m curious to see how that works in a ballpark.

Lately, it feels like everything is reaching for the past — the VMAs celebrated 40 years of unforgettable moments, and likewise, P!NK’s music brings back the empowering hooks that once ruled the MTV airwaves. I missed Dreamfest last year so I’m excited to see what they offer, too. For a cool $1,000 individual ticket, there’s also a VIP reception and after party.

But remember it’s for the children, too. The event annually gives the Colin Powell Medal of Courage for a young patient who has triumphed over adversity. This year that’s Elena Sweet, who overcame Ewing sarcoma after 14 cycles of chemotherapy and multiple surgeries, including a 15-hour procedure to save her leg.

Dreamforce, the annual tech conference organized by Salesforce, was first held in 2003 and has since grown into one of the largest and most influential tech events in the world. Initially aimed at Salesforce customers, the event has expanded to encompass broader themes in technology, business, and innovation, attracting tens of thousands of attendees to San Francisco each year.

The conference’s future in San Francisco was up in the air not long ago. Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff has expressed concerns about the city’s rising crime and homelessness, making waves when he hinted that Dreamforce might not stay in the city forever. But for now, For now, Dreamforce — and Dreamfest — are staying put.

As Dreamfest gears up for another year of music, philanthropy, and high-flying performances, it’s just a reminder of the magic that happens when tech, music, and charity collide. Whether you’re there for the aerial stunts, the rock anthems, or simply the cause, one thing’s for sure — this is a night that will stick with you.
