Cat people, let’s be honest here, we’ve probably all had moments where we wondered, “How did I end up adopting this animal that’s possessed by the devil? And why do I still love the crap out of this crazy, but adorable demonic being?” One moment your kitty is purring and head-butting you with love, and the next she’s scratching the hell out of your arm like she suddenly doesn’t recognize you. It’s a very strange relationship, and one I would never put up with if she were a human companion, but we feline fanciers do willingly and passionately.
Apparently, our kitties might actually be possessed by a demon. At least according to Dr. Paul Koudounaris, author of Empire of Death and Heavenly Bodies, who studies demonic cats throughout history. Koudounaris will be giving a Demonically Possessed Cat Lecture tonight at Berkeley’s The Bone Room about the “sadly neglected topic” of the cats whose sole purpose in this world is to “wreck incredible havoc on mankind.” The event takes places at 7 p.m. and is free.
Whether you’re a fan of felines or not, you gotta admit that this is the winner of best event title of the week.
