San Francisco’s How Weird Street Faire is back on with a new date and theme after bad weather washed out this month’s original plans.
Originally scheduled for May 4 under the theme “Star Weird Day: May the 4th Be With You,” the annual outdoor celebration was postponed due to a heavy late-season storm that hit the Bay Area.
Now in its 25th year, How Weird has always attracted those who like to get colorfully dressed up to dance. The annual street fair used to happen in May, but the event also had fall vibes last year in October, which is basically a weeks-long costume season here in the Bay. The new date is September 21 with the theme “Autumn Equinox.”

Event organizers announced the new date this month, stating: “HOW WEIRD OFFICIALLY RETURNS SEPTEMBER 21ST 2024! Thank you all so much for your patience and continued support.”
How Weird claims to be the longest-running dance festival on the West Coast, fusing elements of kink, techno, Burning Man and San Francisco’s renowned counterculture. The eclectic nature ensures that each attendee finds a way to contribute to the communal sense of joyous weirdness.
The event has hosted multiple stages with live DJs spinning an array of electronic beats, from house to trance and everything in between. Art installations dot the landscape, providing visually stunning backdrops that enhance the overall sensory experience.

All tickets for the original May 4 date will be honored on September 21. New tickets are available on Eventbrite.
