Humphry Slocombe owner and imagineer Jake Godby is stepping outside his successful ice cream venture to open a unrelated bakery with artisan chocolate maker Jewel Zimmer of {cocoa}. Called Press 12, the name was inspired by a visit to the Bon Appétit office in the old Condé Nast building in New York (which recently moved to One World Trade Center) after hearing Vogue staffers, who worked on the 12th floor, referred to as “the press 12 girls.”
While they look for a permanent space for Press 12, Godby and Zimmer will host a series of pop-ups to preview their goods. Check ’em out on Saturday (January 24) from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Four Barrel Coffee, where the menu will include items such as pumpkin teacake with hazelnuts and lard, duck fat Chex mix, double chocolate togarashi cookies, Elvis monkey pie with stout, honey and cornmeal, and “squirrelfriend” cookies with peanut butter, chocolate chips, oatmeal, walnuts and Ruffles potato chips. Follow the Press 12 Twitter feed for future pop-up dates. Prada attire is not required.
