Jeff Altman started a YouTube channel last week where he’s been diligently uploading decades-old footage that his grandfather shot on various vacations, and this three-minute long gem documenting San Francisco in 1958 is such a delight. It’s funny to note that the tourist’s ABCs (Alcatraz, bridges, and cable cars) of SF haven’t changed all that much in the last sixty years; aside from the fanciness of the light jackets and the stark lack of Priuses on the GGB, the film almost seems like it could be shot today with the right Instagram filter. (But that’s dumb, and this is so much better.)
