Across the country, protests against police violence — in particular, grand juries’ decisions to not indict police officers for the deaths of Michael Brown in Ferguson, Missouri, and Eric Garner in Staten Island, New York — have pressed on for more than three weeks and will continue tomorrow.

In several cities across the country, including San Francisco and Oakland, the “Millions March” is expected to disrupt business and continue to bring national attention to police violence. Organizers are calling it “The Day of Anger,” and thousands have already RSVP’d on Facebook event pages to participate. In San Francisco, marchers will begin at 2 p.m. at the Ferry Building and end at City Hall around 3:30 p.m. to hear words from Refugio Nieto, father of Alex Nieto, who died in March from a police encounter. Over in Oakland, people will gather at Frank Ogawa Plaza (redubbed Oscar Grant Plaza) at 2 p.m. and march to the Oakland Courthouse at 3:30 p.m., where Jeralynn Blueford, mother of Alan Blueford, who died in 2012 at the hands of another police officer, will speak.

Since a New York grand jury’s decision to not indict an officer over the death of Eric Garner, there have been 13 straight days of protesting in the Bay Area. The demonstrations themselves have ranged from staging “die-in’s” in public areas to shutting down traffic on freeways to just marching along the streets. Even the storm yesterday didn’t prevent people from stopping traffic on Market Street in San Francisco yesterday.

Considering the weather is expected to stay clear from rain tomorrow, protesters are sure to be active and not let anything stop them from voicing their opinion.
