If you took coffee away from the people of San Francisco, I’m pretty sure the city would grind to a halt. Whether you go to Trouble Coffee, Philz, Peet’s, or some other local java spot, there’s no doubt that, like most San Franciscans, you’re fiercely loyal to your brew.
Trying to get your coffee and get out in under two minutes is a whole different ballgame though. People want nonfat milk or almond milk, a shot of espresso, a dollop of low-fat whip cream on the side — a slew of custom options that makes buying a cup of coffee slower than taking Muni. In a new video from Everything But the News, a dude orders some coffee and gets way more than he bargained for.

While your morning cup may not contain wood shavings (but it’s definitely organic and has artisanal beans, right?), the video illustrates that we’ve reached peak coffee in this city. As Hoodline reported, there’s no end in sight for how many coffee shops will open in the Castro (and as we’ve documented, if you stroll down Castro you’ll find at least 10 different coffee shops to satisfy your needs).
But no shame. Coffee is a beautiful drink, so why not have plenty of options in the city? After all, beauty is in the eye of the bean holder.
