Millions of tourists visit San Francisco every year, flocking in wearing shorts during Fogust and sure that Fisherman’s Wharf and Madame Tussauds are the places to be in the city. Sadly, they often leave feeling disappointed and cold when they find out the truth behind their “must do” itinerary items and what summer in San Francisco is really like.
Here we take a look at a few visitors who have taken to Yelp to review San Francisco’s most iconic tourist traps to tell us how they really feel.
Fisherman’s Wharf

This review pretty much sums it up nicely. Plus, it’s definitely fair—sweating and pooping in every toilet in San Francisco is probably not ideal, especially when you can’t find a toilet in this part of town. Alas, one could argue that the seals deserve more than half a star.
Ghirardelli Square

You’d be surprised at the lasting negative impression an unlit Christmas tree can have on a person, never mind the overpriced, meh ice cream and the shit-show that is Ghiradelli Square.
Ferry Building

If you’re going to trust anyone’s point of view on what’s “enjoyable,” should it really be a vegetarian’s?
Golden Gate Fortune Cookies

Note to self: purchase the X-rated fortune cookies next time you’re in Chinatown.
Pier 39

If only he had. If only he had.
The Wave Organ

Always avoid the pipes that sound like a flushing toilet. Always.
The Stinking Rose

I’d love to know which Olive Garden this reviewer frequents that’s better than this North Beach Italian restaurant.
Madame Tussauds

Someone needs to have a serious talk with this reviewer about wax museums and CDs.
Buena Vista Cafe

No one should order decaf, and that is likely how the barista felt. And is this really the best use of your (caffeinated) time?
Cable Cars

And the award for the most insanely insensitive comments in a Yelp review goes to this reviewer. I hope they (do not) enjoy their limo up the hills of San Francisco.
