Prepare to stay up late tonight.
The Perseid Meteor shower, which sprinkled skies over the weekend, will peak tonight with the most sparkle the Bay Area has seen this year since Pride.
The celestial shower comes around every August, when the the Earth passes through the debris left behind by the Comet Swift-Tuttle, but this year’s lucky observers may see up to 60 meteors per hour, NASA estimates.
The best time to see the show is when the moon sets, slightly before dawn. NASA also recommends heading outside 30 minutes beforehand to let your eyes adjust to the dark.
So set your alarm clock, pack some blankets, and head out to one of these spots — where the city lights won’t ruin your date night — to see the heavens alight.
