You know that book for new parents What to Expect When You’re Expecting? Well the people behind that book have a website, and the people behind that website created a survey to find the best city to have a baby. According to them, San Francisco won the #1 spot. Weird, right?

Researchers looked at 100 U.S. cities and SF ranked high in categories like prenatal support and healthcare for new moms and babies. We didn’t rank as high in “pregnancy-friendly environment,” which makes sense to me considering what I’ve heard from the SF moms I know and the shade I’ve seen thrown at moms who bring strollers on MUNI.

The website offers up some reasons why they think the city is a great place for new moms like that “the city by the bay is home to more than 300 coffee shops, and that’s good news for bleary-eyed parents pushing strollers up any of Frisco’s 43 hills (talk about Strollercize!)” Ok, yeah sure, coffee availability totally makes up for how freaking EXPENSIVE this glorious city is. (I’m being sarcastic!)

They also chose SF because it has so many playgrounds and hills, but I for one am not that excited by the idea of carrying a ten-pound human life up and down hills that already give me trouble. Props to people who are raising a kid in San Francisco (what’s your secret? meth?), but I’m just not buying this.
