Anyone living in The Castro with ears and a will to sleep can tell you that the overnight construction on Castro Street over the past few days has been insufferable. But after the rain comes the rainbow (CROSSWALKS!), making the construction nightmare totally, mostly, worth it.
I’m not a classically trained sidewalk beautification expert, but from what I can tell, the segments were laid down by hand and later affixed using a massive asphalt heater dubbed the “StreetHeat.” This Hyperlapse I took makes it seem like they were applied via a giant 3D pavement printer:
