It only makes sense that the city where the freaks infamously come out at night garnered yet again the top spot in Zillow’s seventh annual Trick-or-Treat Index, which ranks the best 20 cities in the nation for trick-or-treating. And after holding this title for five years in a row, San Francisco continues to stay true to its roots as the city where costumes seem as normal in everyday life as they do on Halloween.

Zillow’s index ranks cities on the basis of where sugar-hungry hordes of kids can snag the most candy, in the shortest amount of time and in the safest areas — essentially, a young trick-or-treater’s version of candy heaven. (Or hell? After all, it is Halloween. Muuuaahhh!). On the basis of four equally weighted variables of data — median home value, housing density, crime rate and age of the population — Zillow came up with the following rankings:

It’s good to know that in a city where the number of children has decreased dramatically over the years, there’s still a solid stomping ground for trick-or-treaters to get their sugar on and do that San Francisco Halloween thang, ensuring that the city’s freak flag always remains at full mast.
