Some say that falling in love in San Francisco is one of the hardest things to do, but if you want proof that there’s someone out there for everyone, watch this film of R2-D2 falling in love in the Bay Area.
The short film, titled Artoo In Love, follows R2-D2 finding the love of his life and wooing her with picnics, flowers, wine, and old clips from Star Wars. That is, until like all classic love stories, R2-D2 discovers that someone else has captured her heart.
Written and directed by Evan Atherton, the film was shot in San Francisco and Berkeley, so, yes, you definitely saw the Palace of Fine Arts and Bay Bridge make cameo appearances. The team behind the concept just “wanted to create a film that brought joy to its viewers and showed their favorite character in the spotlight.” If you’re interested in behind-the-scene photos, head to the film’s website to see R2-D2 and San Francisco in all their lovestruck glory.
This little film gives me hope that there really is someone out there for me — maybe even in this city chocked full of dating apps.
