The United States of America may feel like a different country for some of those who are living in it, yet tourists from various countries (displaying big smiles) continue to visit for leisure during the summer. Indeed, San Francisco city dwellers have likely witnessed an influx of globetrotters over the last couple of weeks. It’s a strange time in American history, but here is what is going on for visitors to our beloved city.

Another Building Is Sinking

Are architects unaware of San Francisco’s hilly terrain? Are they even surveying the city before building? According to a new report in the San Francisco Chronicle, another building is sinking, in addition to the Millennium Tower, whose sinking has garnered international fame. But as the San Francisco Chronicle explained, “In San Francisco, any hint of structural tilt conjures up visions of the slow-motion drama two blocks away at Millennium Tower — the posh 58-story high-rise that has sunk 17 inches since it opened in 2008. Worse, it has tilted 14 inches to the east, and there’s no evidence that movement has ceased.” Only time shall tell if this one is doomed.

Bird Won’t Give Up on San Francisco

Despite new city regulations, Bird’s founder, Travis VanderZanden, is still setting his eyes on San Francisco. According to a report on SFGate, he wants to expand operations in San Francisco and even envisions 10,000 electric scooters scooting around the city. “This is a huge opportunity right now to have a huge impact on transportation,” VanderZanden said. “We were the innovators on the electric-scooter-sharing market, and we were the first in the world to do it. We think it’s the right solution to get people out of cars. It’s lightweight. It’s easy to use. It’s affordable.” Some people just won’t quit.

Forty-Two-Room Lodge Opens in Presidio

A sister hotel to the esteemed Inn at the Presidio has opened its doors. On Wednesday, a ribbon-cutting ceremony commemorated the opening of the new hotel, which is being hailed as the “closest hotel to the Golden Gate Bridge,” according to ABC. Rooms range from $275 to $650 a night—and reportedly they already have a lot of bookings.
