Most of us don’t feel so hot the morning after a big party. However, the nautical-themed “White Caps & Night Caps” is a notable exception: any post-party hangover will be offset by knowing that all the proceeds from this night of nautical revelry go to improving community health in the Tenderloin. (If that doesn’t get you to jump onboard, what will?!)
“White Caps & Night Caps isn’t your typical San Francisco charity event,” said Daniella Vallurupalli, board chair of the Saint Francis Foundation Associates and a Saint Francis Foundation board member. Attendees can arrive to the all-ages event “in cocktail attire or dressed as a sailor … the event’s fun-loving atmosphere is outdone only by the amazing cause we are raising money for—the Tenderloin Health Improvement Partnership,” added Vallurupalli.
“Fun-loving atmosphere” is an understatement — White Caps & Night Caps is also an experience that won’t disappoint. The party (which is all ages, but you must 21 to drink) is being held at the plush Bently Reserve, a classical revival hall built within the façade of the Old Federal Reserve Bank. At the party, you’ll find hors d’oeuvres, an open bar (brought to you by Tonic Beverage Catering), a photo booth, a silent auction, a raffle, prizes and DJ Jason Everett keeping the dance floor bumpin’. And if you want to get an early start, the night can begin with a special “Captain’s Circle” wine tasting hosted by Zinfandel Advocates & Producers (ZAP), beginning an hour before the main festivities.

The Tenderloin Health Improvement Partnership, to whom all the proceeds will go, works to identify health disparities among residents and improve community health for the Tenderloin neighborhood.
“The event’s fun-loving atmosphere is outdone only by the amazing cause we are raising money for — the Tenderloin Health Improvement Partnership.”
White Caps & Night Caps makes an especially good date night (whether you bring a date or meet the sailor/mermaid of your dreams there), as the decadence of the partying is offset by the charitable cause. Don’t worry about the “white after Labor Day” rules — you can dress like a sailor for this event if you please.
White Caps & Nights Caps sets sail on the evening of October 22. You can find tickets and more information here.
