FRIDAY FIVE

Much has changed in the Bay Area in the past year — and the restaurant industry is no exception. A combination of an increase in both food delivery and outdoor dining has caused chefs and bakers to get creative with their business models. The result for many: pop-ups.
If you’re curious to try delicious food and support a small business (at the same time!), here are five pop-ups happening in the Bay Area this weekend.
Sandy’s SF

A New Orleans style sandwich shop, Chef Peterson Harter of Sandy’s SF is bringing much-needed muffuletta to the Bay. The sandwich, crafted to perfection after much trial and error, features Italian mortadella, prosciutto, soppressata, and provalone.
In addition, Sandy’s offers a spicy olive salad, jambalaya, and brown butter chocolate chip cookies to complete your meal.
// Catch Sandy’s SF Friday through Sunday at bottle shop Maison Corbeaux from 11 A.M. to 4 P.M., located at 2901 Sacramento St., San Francisco.
Mama Soco’s Birria

For those searching for quesabirria tacos, Mama Soco’s is sure to fulfill your craving.
Mama Soco’s is known for its unique birria dishes, including birria y arroz, birria tortas, and much more. They’ve even been known to *elevate* the tradition Cup O’ Noodle with their birria and consommé.
// You can find Mama Soco’s at the Excelsior Coffee Block Party, located between Mission St. and Paris St. in San Francisco, from 11 A.M. to 5 P.M.
Outta Sight Pizza

With pizza that’s truly “outta sight,” a rotating menu, and the use of seasonal ingredients, Outta Sight Pizza is here for your weekend pizza needs.
The pizzas, named after individuals that the Outta Sight staff admires, have in the past featured toppings that include fennel sausage, red onion, and mushrooms.
// This Friday and Saturday, Outta Sight Pizza can be found at Fig & Thistle, located at 429 Gough St. in San Francisco until 10 P.M.
Hermanita

Founded by Chef Nicole Marin Tellez, Hermanita is a pop-up featuring food from Baja Mexico, including Slow Roasted Carnitas, Chicken Colorado Tamales, and so much more.
// Hermanita is located at Uma Casa at 1550 Church St. in San Francisco on Saturdays and Sundays from 11–3. Additional pop-up locations are featured on their Instagram.
L.H. Bakeshop

A small cottage bakery founded last year by vegan Chef Lyndsay Hope Pullem, L.H. Bakeshop shows customers that there’s a way to enjoy pastries without the use of meat and dairy.
Pullem, an animal rights activist, has made it clear from the inception of L.H. Bakeshop that it’s possible to run a business that feels ethically good, demonstrated by her donation of 10% of the shop’s sales to animal sanctuaries around the Bay Area.
// L.H. Bakeshop can be found at Unity Park Richmond this Sunday, July 18th, from 1–5 P.M.
