
After you check that box for your presidential and vice-presidential candidates, there’s a whole lot of ballot left — especially in California, where we are pretty much obsessed with state propositions.
This year, we have nine state measures you’ll get to weigh in on. Many of them aren’t super easy to understand on a first read, requiring research and thoughtful decision-making.
To get you started, we’re publishing this guide by California high school teacher Elizabeth Vitanza. This is a good way to get a feel for what the measures are proposing, as well as who is for them and who is against them. We have also provided additional resources at the bottom to continue your research.
