Chill-Ass Donkey in Hayes Valley — The Bold Italic — San Francisco

When a colleague told me they had seen a donkey walking down Webster a few days back, my first thought was “save shrooms for the weekend, dude,” but because of the magic of social media and the work of Hoodline and Curbed, I can now safely believe that such an awesome, oddly SF thing did happen.

The donkey’s name is Johnny Appleseed because of course it is, and he’s kind of fancy. Johnny works as an extra in the SF Ballet’s Don Quixote and his trainer has been taking him out on walks and short rides in the neighborhood so he can stretch his legs and because it is DELIGHTFUL for anyone who sees them. According to Hoodline, it’s possible that sightings will continue through this week as Don Quixote runs until Sunday March 29.
