It might be time to rally some gentrification protesters to vomit on Outside Lands scalpers, because now that three-day general admission tickets to the festival are sold out, a good number of secondhand tickets are being resold for more than three times the original price. Over at Stubhub, 151 general admission tickets are being sold for $600 or more — double the original price. A total of 16 tickets are being hawked for $1,000 or more. That’s the same price you would pay to live in one of those living rooms-turned-bedrooms that are so abundant in this city. And in what I’m sure has to be a giant eff you to every-non millionaire, five GA tickets are being sold for $3,000 or more. I’m convinced that this one has to be performance in the vain of that photography parody of the rental market.
Fans of Kanye West, The Flaming Lips, and getting bathed in Karl the Fog shouldn’t give up hope though. Outside Lands tickets on Craigslist are going for only $150 above the original price! If you start cutting back on you burrito and $9 cocktail intake, you might have a chance of being able to afford a ticket. For the truly desperate, there’s always this route.
