We read the comments sections of our stories, and we know our readers have fiery, passionate opinions about San Francisco (and, ahem, some of our stories). But why limit yourself to an anonymous username when you can have a Bold Italic byline and get paid for voicing your great ideas to the world?
The Bold Italic is looking for informed, opinionated San Franciscans to write regular opinion pieces for the site. Candidates for this freelance job should have strong feelings about this city and what’s happening here, a compelling personal voice, and a healthy sense of humor. (You should know when to get serious and when people are taking themselves way too seriously).
We want you to make us laugh — and make us think about this city from a fresh perspective.
Want the freelance gig? You should be able to voice your opinions in a conversational way (like you would talk to your smart, funny friend). The topics we’re looking to cover are wide-ranging, from issues around housing, tech, and transportation, to loving neighborhoods and all the ridiculous stuff we do in the Bay Area. Bonus points if you’re digital media savvy and have a strong social media presence.
If you’re interested, email us a little something about yourself, along with some clips showing your opinion/humor style and a couple sample story ideas to editorial@thebolditalic.com.
