Valentine’s Day Gift Guide for Stoners

Weed is finally legal, which is one of the few political changes Californians heart this year. This Valentine’s Day is a golden opportunity to puff, puff and pass with the one you love—or, if not the one you love, the one who swiped right this week. Though pot stores aren’t open to the public yet (c’mon, 2018!), you can still use a medical-marijuana card to buy some laced heart-shaped edibles. (Single? Or did your last relationship go up in smoke? Buy some for yourself or for your best bud.)

These high-quality treats from Bay Area dispensaries will warm up even stone(d)-cold hearts. Oh, and if you need some good date ideas, check out our guide to the best and worst museums to visit while stoned.

Dark Chocolate Bar with Raspberries from the Green Cross

Location: 4218 Mission Street

Candy stores are generally carrying chocolate-covered fruits this time of year. Forgo the box of chocolate-covered cherries at the CVS checkout counter (at least until it’s 50 percent off on February 15) and get this candy, which has fruits and herbs. The Dark Chocolate Bar with Raspberries from The Green Cross contains 10 mg THC per dose, plus bittersweet chocolate and dried raspberries. You won’t find a better pairing on Tinder.

Marshmallows from Apothecarium SF

Location: 2029 Market Street

The Apothecarium SF has a 12-pack of assorted marshmallows (aptly named “Mellows”), which contain 5 mg of THC each. (So you probably shouldn’t play Chubby Bunny with these ’mallows.) The Mellows are “high”-end, gourmet candies covered in toppings like sprinkles, cookie crumbs, pretzels, strawberries and sage. As good as they are alone, you certainly could make a romantic evening by lighting a fire and roasting gourmet stoner s’mores.

Weed from Winged Heart Farms

Location: By delivery and at certain stores in SF and in the East Bay

The PremaFlora Farm Stand might be the most Bay Area business ever. It claims to offer “direct access to artisan sun-grown cannabis flowers from boutique farms throughout Northern California.” And they deliver, so you don’t have to leave your romantic love nest (apartment) for a resupply. For your hippie lover, get citrusy, minty and papaya-y Long Valley Royal Kush straight from Winged Heart Farms, which is one of the growers that PremaFora stocks. (All together now: “awww”.)

Dark-Chocolate-Covered Sea-Salt Caramels from Bay Area Craft

Location: By delivery

Salted caramel has been hip for way too long, but it’s still delicious. Skip the line for a scoop of salted caramel ice cream at Bi-Rite and instead pick up a dark-chocolate-covered sea-salt caramel from Bay Area Craft. The 5 mg caramels are gourmet as fuck, “enrobed in single-origin Ecuadorian dark chocolate and infused with pure California-grown cannabis.” This treat is perfect for the food snob you’ve been trying to win over and haven’t yet impressed with your restaurant choices on dates. Feed each other chocolate in bed, have a good munchies spot in mind for later, and you’ll have the perfect V-Day date.

Cannabis Honey from Get Sava

Location: By delivery

For relationships whose pace is more hanging-in-the-hammock-all-day-and-drinking-tea, visit Get Sava to pick up some Humboldt County cannabis honey for your sweetener needs. It’s from the Bay Area, so you deserve some extra love for shopping local and artisanal. Put a teaspoon (3 mg of THC ) in a cup of tea and relax with some Netflix and chilling…not that you weren’t already chilling.

Cherry Cheesecake from Harborside

Location: By delivery or in-store at 1840 Embarcadero, Oakland

You can have your cake and get high too after a stop at Harborside in Oakland. Cherry Cheesecake is colored the traditional red of Valentine’s Day and contains a 200 mg dose of THC. Marie Antoinette would have been proud and jealous. (Actually, maybe Marie Antoinette’s infamous utterance, “Let them eat cake,” would have been better received if she had been talking about weed cake.)

Love Potion #420 from Harvest

Location: 4811 Geary Boulevard and 33 29th Street

Forget Love Potion #9 — ask your local witch at SF’s Harvest dispensary for Love Potion #420. The makers at Yummi Karma claim that the tinctures contain a blend of natural aphrodisiacs, 25 mg of THC and 10 mg of CBD to get you in the mood. (And it’s cheaper than oysters. Win!)

Chocolate Caramels and Flourless Chocolate Tortes from CBCB

Location: 3033 Shattuck Avenue, Berkeley

The company that makes these chocolate caramels is fittingly called ChooseLove. For those who like their love with a little extra THC, head to CBCB in Berkeley, where they also stock flourless chocolate tortes that contain 30 mg of THC each. Of course, there’s no pressure on Valentine’s Day to actually choose love. If you’re a commitment phobe, just cross out the “love” part and write “ChooseLike,” “ChooseCasualSex,” “ChooseMe” or “ChooseLust.”
