Jennifer Wong created this (Human) Wasteland Map from reported craps provided by DataSF. The playful poop map allows you to search by address to reveal see your chances of stepping in a turd. You can also search more broadly by neighborhood and the map will show you where poop’s been found, but unfortunately, about 4,000 data points from January to June of 2013 is all the information that has been made available so far. Wong says that heat map represents the entire data set and you can report new shits at the top of the page
Wong is the same woman who brought you a quiz of which Game of Thrones Land/SF neighborhood you should live in. She created the latest mochimachine project with help from Timothy Licata as part of the annual hack week at HotPads (a Zillow company). In fact, it won the SF office’s grand prize. Here’s hoping it helps you walk with a little more confidence or at least gives you a chuckle.
Update: If you’re interested in learning more about San Francisco’s poop problem you can read about it here and I recommend you check out what groups like Lava Mae are doing in the city.
